Celebrating over 30 Years of Beamans

Welcome to the refreshed Beamans website – and to the first in a new series of occasional insights exploring developments across the pay and reward landscape.

As many of you know, after working with Beamans for several years, Richard and I were proud to take ownership of the company at the end of 2024 following the retirement of Michael Bourke, the last of our founding members. It’s a significant moment in our story, and one that has encouraged us to reflect on just how much Beamans has grown, adapted, and achieved over the last three decades.

Strengthening Our Core

Our foundation has always been clear: delivering high quality job evaluation and reward services to central government. We are proud to have supported an extensive range of departments, agencies, and NDPBs over the years. This core work remains central to our mission, and it continues to underpin our success.

The depth of advice and practical insight we’ve gained—as well as the knowledge and experience brought by new perspectives and projects—has strengthened Beamans and helped us evolve while staying true to our values.

Expanding Through New Challenges

In the past year, we’ve stepped into several projects outside our traditional remit, each contributing to our growth and offering valuable learning opportunities. You will see some of these appear as case studies on the site, but we also respect the fact that some of our clients would rather remain anonymous.

Supporting the UK B Corp Certification charity B Lab UK

We worked alongside the charity responsible for awarding B Corp certification to develop a job grading methodology aligned with their values, as well as a market informed and futureproofed salary structure.

Contributing to the quinquennial Prison Service Pay Review

Partnering with another organisation, a first for Beamans, we undertook research to provide the job evaluation informed evidence for the PSPRB’s five year review into Prison Service pay—an important and rewarding piece of work.

Equal Pay and Equal Value

This increasingly important area has generated two new private sector clients for Beamans where we are acting as Independent Experts determining the equivalence of equal value.

These experiences have broadened our perspective, enriched our expertise, and reinforced our commitment to delivering thoughtful, evidence based solutions

Staying True to What We Do Best

While we value the challenge of new projects, our dedication to core services remains unchanged. We continue to deliver:

With several organisational reviews currently underway, Beamans is well placed to offer timely and effective support. Our team brings practical expertise, deep insight, and a collaborative approach to every engagement.

Looking Ahead

To everyone who has partnered with Beamans over the years: thank you. Your trust in our work has shaped our success, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration.

Here’s to the next chapter – and to continuing to support organisations in building fair, robust, and future ready pay and reward frameworks.
